The song sounds really good, especially the begining and escalation into the death/slash/whatever segment.
1:59 - The song gets really repetitive here. It'd be better, I think, if you revisited the build up elements but extended them for a while here before finishing with another round of the fast stuff.

"I don't know that i'd call it classy..."
The song is pretty intact (compared to your Hyrule Field song... which disappeared?). I especially like the beginning and have no critiques with it.
0:30 - Pretty good. Some of the instruments have a good synergy going on that give it that Zelda quality. While it works, i'm not entirely confident that the... dominant horn like thingy is the best choice to accompany the drum beat. Then again, though, that might just be my taste in music.
0:54 - Right here it should be "du dun duh duuun" and it's just one "duuuun". Or it is so faint that I can't tell.
1:09 - Prior, the song feels like it's lacking something. Like it's a band where two guys haven't joined in yet. That's ok because the song is suppose to build up. But here, we get a bit of a squeaky sound (I don't know my instruments :^p) and some of the beats have a quickened effect... but it just doesn't strike me as the full "epic" blast I think we were suppose to get.

All in all though, a very nice track.

Indeed it is your taste, I liked it. Also it does go "du dun dun duuun" at that point instead of just being one. I can hear it. o.o
The second part isn't supposed to be much different since I just looped it. I quickened the beats purposely. That weird squeking thing you hear is an added instrument.
Hmm, thanks for the review. I'll consider the changes but probably won't make most.

I downloaded the song and raised the tempo by 5% and found that the song paced much better as a result (imo). Certain notes, instruments or whatnot (i'm no musician) felt a bit weird and that's what is holding it back. For example, at 11.36 seconds into the song, it sounds like it "skips" and doesn't flow well. Some of the instruments sound like they sort of "pulse" or are a looped sound (if that makes sense) and hurts the clarity.
Hope that makes any sense.
Author's Response:
Yes, it does. Only problem is I'm not entirely any good at making a good sounding guitar artificially. I'm thinking of raising tempo up a little though.
I honestly think it could be a lot better, the guitar at least could. . Maybe I'll just Google for a decent Guitar VSTi that, hopefully, is either free or costs under twenty dollars. :o
Thanks for the review.

Some of your notes feel a tad late a note, I think, is missing here and there. I was expecting the piece to escalate a little half way through, but it didn't.

This is one of my favorite songs on the portal, even though I think the audio quality gets a little "hissy" in parts.
1:08+ is just freakin' badass, I just wish the climactic part was a little more drawn out instead of being so brief. The song just puts me in a good place and has really inspired my imagination.

Mario Kart 64. That's what comes to mind. Very good sounding song, and I can't find anything to really complain about.

It sounds pretty good, but the problem I have is that it distorts too much from the original track... Some notes are really off and others seem to blend in the wrong places. If it didn't distort so much, it'd get a 5/5 from me.

"It's still not "battle" music."
00:42+
If that isn't straight from Zelda, I don't know what is.
Lacks the energy/tempo/aggression/heat to be "battle music", but i'm not grading the title. It's a fun track and unique enough; would love to hear similarly themed stuff.
